April is the red-headed TV news reporter for Channel 6.  In order to get the big news story, April sometimes puts herself in danger or is competitive against Vernon Fenwick, who also tries to get the big story before she does.  While doing a news story on thefts on high-tech equipment, Shredder's punks, Bebop and Rocksteady ambushes her and April runs through the sewers to get away.  Just in time, some mysterious ninja shadow warriors fights the punks, winning the battle and rescues April.  They're mutant turtles.  After awaking in the Turtle's lair, their sensei, Splinter, tells her the story of their origins.  April ends up making a strong ally of the Turtles and assists them on their missions whenever there's a crime or Shredder causing trouble.  April also has a friend that works as a secretary at Channel 6, named Irma.  The two of them like to chat and hang out together and even Irma sometimes helps out with the Turtles' missions.  April for the first seven years in the show wears a yellow jumpsuit and then a leather jacket and jeans in the last three.
