Bebop along with his buddy, Rocksteady, were part of a gang doing crimes and causing all kinds of havoc in New York City.  He was employed by Shredder to be his henchman along with Rocksteady.  One day, Shredder promises a better life for Bebop, Rocksteady and their gang by tricking them into an experiment with mutagen that ends up Bebop being mutated into a warthog that was taken from the Central Park Zoo.  Rocksteady became a rhino.  Together, they work together with Shredder to destroy the Turtles, but their stupidity, clumsiness and being dimwitted makes them unsuited for the missions Shredder sends them on anyway.
