Shredder is the arch enemy of the Turtles and Splinter.  In the beginning in Japan, after setting up Yoshi that gets him expelled, Saki (Shredder) turns The Foot Clan into an army of crime and attempts world domination.  He eventually followed Yoshi to America where he created some mutagen that mutates Yoshi and the Turtles.  After a kidnapping of Splinter (Yoshi), the Turtles were given the opportunity by Shredder join him after learning that he was the reason for their mutation, but the Turtles refused and both sides became bitter enemies.  Shredder headquarters himself in his major armored fortress called The Technodrome with an alien brain Krang and the punks he mutated, Rocksteady and Bebop.  He wears a metal costume with blades on his gauntlets, a purple cape, a kabuto helmet, and a menpo mask, which he hardly takes off.  Whenever Shredder comes up with an idea, he attempts to use it to take over Earth, but ends up in battle against the Turtles that ends with his defeat and retreat.
