With Leonardo on a training mission in South America, Michelangelo took a job throwing birthday parties as Cowabunga Carl making money to support the family.  The physical and emotional absence of Leonardo has taken a toll on Michelangelo.  Michelangelo draws the most emotional support from his other brothers, Donatello and Raphael.  When Leonardo returns home, Michelangelo gets overly excited, tripping over furniture and then gives him a big warm hug.  Mikey's lively demeanor returns in full force when he is in the presence of his three brothers again, his good-natured jokes and brief commentaries lightening even in hard situations.  Even though the family has been through some tough hardships, Michelangelo still retains his goofy, slack off and good natured jokes and partying and being a comic relief.
